Remote Spanish Medical Interpreter (OPI/VRI)

Description

  • Interpret medical information between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers by phone and video.
  • Connect patients with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff through clear interpretation.
  • Help patients understand and navigate healthcare services.
  • Explain cultural differences that may affect patient care to healthcare providers.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow professional ethical standards.
  • Document each session’s date, time, duration, and interpretation type.
  • Stay up to date with medical terminology and healthcare practices.
  • Complete required onboarding and training.
  • Log in for scheduled shifts and accept calls.

Requirements

  • Speak Spanish and English fluently.
  • Have experience in medical interpretation, translation, or transcription.
  • Know medical terminology and be familiar with the healthcare system.
  • Communicate effectively, show cultural sensitivity, and work well under pressure.
  • Have an internet connection with at least 15 Mbps download and upload speeds.
  • Use a wired Ethernet LAN connection.
  • Have a computer with a fifth-generation or newer processor and at least 8 GB of RAM.
  • Use a USB headset.
  • Have an HD webcam.
  • Have a quiet, professional workspace suitable for confidential medical conversations.
  • Be available for hourly shifts in the EST time zone.
  • Pass the final language assessment through LanguageStat.
  • Submit a resume and cover letter describing language fluency, interpretation experience, comfort with medical terminology, OPI/VRI availability, and workspace.

Benefits

  • Attendance and quality assurance bonuses are available in addition to the hourly rate.
  • Interpreters who pass the assessment and begin work receive paid mandatory training: 80 hours over 10 business days at half the agreed hourly rate.
  • Monthly payments are made through Payoneer.
  • Work remotely.
  • 12-month contract.
  • 40 hours per week.
