Senior Labor and Employment Counsel (UK Remote)

Senior counsel role advising Kraken’s global crypto-finance business on EU and UK employment, labor, privacy, workforce, and executive compensation matters. The position supports investigations, acquisitions, and international expansion.

Tavsif

  • Serve as the EU and UK subject matter expert within Payward’s Labor & Employment legal team
  • Provide local-law employment guidance across European time zones and coordinate MENA and APAC matters with local counsel
  • Lead recurring EU and UK employment matters, including worker classification, separations, employee relations, executive compensation, and wage-and-hour issues
  • Advise executive leaders, employment counsel, and the Payward Experience team
  • Build processes for works councils, collective consultation, pay transparency, and employee representatives
  • Support restructurings, acquisitions, M&A due diligence, and post-closing integration of European workforces
  • Draft and localize employment policies and procedures, then deliver related training
  • Advise on GDPR, UK GDPR, and cross-border HR and recruiting data transfers
  • Support workplace investigations involving whistleblowing, discrimination, and performance concerns
  • Provide guidance on European expansion, EOR arrangements, direct employment, entity strategy, global mobility, and contingent workforces
  • Advise on EU and UK trade secret protections and restrictive covenants
  • Manage local external counsel handling legal opinions and pre-litigation matters
  • Track global labor and employment developments, including changes affecting the crypto industry

Talablar

  • Hold an EU or UK legal qualification and be based in the EU or UK
  • Bring at least eight years of legal experience advising across the EU, UK, and other jurisdictions on employment, labor, and executive compensation matters
  • Have experience in both in-house and law-firm settings, including high-growth and mature enterprise environments
  • Demonstrate broad international labor and employment experience
  • Have advised works councils, collective consultation processes, and employee representative bodies in the EU and/or UK
  • Have experience handling employee and candidate data privacy issues under GDPR and UK GDPR
  • Use generative AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT effectively in daily legal work
  • Apply sound judgment when validating AI-generated work against local law and safeguarding confidentiality, privilege, and personal data
  • Bring a proactive, entrepreneurial approach focused on creating opportunities
  • Interest in the crypto industry is preferred
  • Experience in fintech, crypto, or regulated financial services is preferred
  • Experience with MENA and/or APAC employment markets is preferred
  • Experience with acquisition due diligence, transfer-of-undertakings rules, and post-closing workforce integration is preferred
