Underwriting Customer Service Representative - Hybrid in New York

Support insurance underwriting operations in a hybrid New York role by processing applications, renewals, cancellations, and customer records. Manage transaction queues, reports, underwriting requests, and inquiries from agents and internal teams.

Description

  • Process insurance applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and related data entry
  • Complete underwriting transactions accurately and within required timelines
  • Order and interpret miscellaneous reports
  • Process underwriter requests received through fax, phone, email, and quotes
  • Respond to internal department and agent questions about underwriting procedures and workflows
  • Process transactions through data-entry systems and work queues
  • Evaluate and maintain customer information across all lines of business
  • Verify customer links for transactions across all lines of business
  • Investigate the relationships that created customer links on existing business
  • Research and update customer Social Security numbers and dates of birth
  • Handle incoming and outgoing customer calls professionally
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external customers
  • Complete additional assigned duties

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus related experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role
  • Foundational knowledge of underwriting and rating, including applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and data entry
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to apply established underwriting procedures, workflow processes, and regulatory requirements while processing transactions promptly
  • Demonstrated acceptable accuracy in scenario assessments
  • Strong organizational abilities
