Senior Events Manager — Remote, United States

Lead Blackboard’s global events strategy and execution as a senior events marketing leader. Build programs that support acquisition, retention, adoption, expansion, and measurable pipeline growth.

Description

  • Lead Blackboard’s global events strategy, calendar, prioritization framework, budget, and end-to-end delivery
  • Translate go-to-market priorities into event programs that support new-logo acquisition, customer retention, adoption, and expansion
  • Develop and maintain an events taxonomy and prioritization model using pipeline potential, audience fit, competitive presence, and historical performance
  • Oversee event spending, forecasting, ROI analysis, vendor partnerships, contract negotiations, and agency or contract staff engagements
  • Monitor cost per opportunity and customer engagement, and report budget variances to the VP of GTM Marketing
  • Manage venue and vendor selection, registration systems, booth and experience design, staffing, shipping, on-site operations, and post-event closeout
  • Develop repeatable execution playbooks for different event formats and regions
  • Lead local and contract event staff when required
  • Plan pre-event outreach, registration campaigns, in-event engagement, and post-event follow-up sequences
  • Partner with Revenue Marketing on demand generation, account targeting, and pipeline development
  • Collaborate with Customer Marketing on nurture programs supporting adoption, retention, and cross-sell objectives
  • Ensure event communications reflect go-to-market positioning and PMM-approved messaging
  • Establish strong operating partnerships with Sales, Customer Success Managers, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering
  • Produce event-specific enablement resources, target-account lists, talking points, competitive insights, and meeting-scheduling processes
  • Define event targets for pipeline, meetings, customer engagements, and new contacts
  • Maintain an event performance dashboard connected with Salesforce and HubSpot where applicable
  • Lead post-event reviews and present performance and ROI findings to marketing leadership
  • Coordinate with Marketing Operations on attribution, lead routing, and data collection

Requirements

  • Eight to ten years of experience in event marketing
  • Demonstrated success leading global event programs that generate measurable pipeline
  • Experience developing and managing events that produce new-logo pipeline, ideally for Higher Education and/or Business & Government audiences
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education event calendar, including EDUCAUSE, regional consortia, government technology conferences, and sector-specific gatherings
  • Experience establishing structured partnerships with Sales, Customer Success Managers, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering
  • Experience overseeing six- or seven-figure event budgets, negotiating vendor agreements, and presenting ROI to senior leaders
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to run multiple events across regions at the same time
  • Data-led event measurement experience, including CRM pipeline reporting and formal post-event analysis
  • Experience managing contract and local event personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience marketing to Higher Education and Business & Government audiences preferred
  • Familiarity with competitive event environments in EdTech or SaaS preferred
  • Experience working in centralized marketing after distributed or regional field marketing preferred
  • Experience incorporating events into account-based marketing programs preferred
  • Exposure to AI-supported event tools preferred
  • Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based is required
  • Must retain work authorization throughout employment
