Senior Data and AI Architect – DysrupIT (Philippines Remote)
Lead Databricks lakehouse architecture and production generative AI delivery for client engagements. Develop solution designs, proofs of concept, and reusable consulting assets from the Philippines.
Description
- Lead technical solutioning before contract award and carry designs through to production delivery
- Balance client engagement with hands-on delivery, adjusting the split to match the pipeline
- Define technical approaches, test problem statements, and run discovery workshops
- Develop target-state architectures, delivery plans, proposal assumptions, exclusions, risk registers, and reliable estimates
- Design four- to six-week proofs of concept and advise client architects, data leaders, and CIOs as a technical peer
- Own architecture end to end and, when needed, direct delivery, scope, stand-ups, and client-facing technical work
- Build complex components and reference implementations directly
- Deliver Databricks lakehouses using medallion architecture, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, ingestion, and orchestration
- Develop production generative AI solutions involving RAG, agents, evaluation, prompt and context engineering, cost, and latency
- Establish standards for CI/CD, infrastructure as code, testing, observability, and cost management
- Coach client engineers and oversee production readiness, transition, and handover
- Convert delivery knowledge into reference architectures, accelerators, templates, and estimation frameworks
- Support Frontier Academy and keep recommendations current across Databricks, Microsoft, and Anthropic
- Help develop and ultimately lead a small delivery team, including hiring
Requirements
- Around eight years of experience in data and AI engineering and architecture, including at least three years with significant design authority and senior client-facing consulting work
- Hands-on Databricks expertise spanning lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Spark/PySpark, Lakeflow or Delta Live Tables, orchestration, performance, and cost optimisation
- Azure and Microsoft data-platform experience with Data Factory or Fabric, ADLS, Azure OpenAI or AI Foundry, Entra ID, and networking
- Production generative AI experience with RAG, vector stores, agents and tool use, evaluation, guardrails, and prompt or context engineering, including Claude or a comparable frontier model
- Strong production-level Python and SQL skills
- Practical data-modelling expertise across dimensional, data vault, and wide denormalised patterns
- Working knowledge of DevOps and MLOps, including version control, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers, and monitoring
- Excellent spoken and written English for executive proposals, decision records, and presentations
- Databricks Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is desirable
- Experience at a Big Four firm, global systems integrator, or specialist consultancy, including bids, statements of work, and estimation, is desirable
- Experience applying responsible AI governance and delivery practices in financial services, retail, or travel is desirable
- Experience with Australian or APAC clients, Snowflake, dbt, Power BI or Fabric, and mentoring small engineering teams is desirable
