Night Shift Central Communications Supervisor

Lead overnight emergency and non-emergency communications operations at Sentara Health. Supervise frontline teams, handle escalations, and coordinate physician paging and critical hospital communications.

Description

  • Lead centralized emergency and non-emergency communications operations during the assigned shift
  • Track live performance, staffing coverage, and system functionality
  • Resolve escalations to maintain continuous service
  • Supervise, coach, and develop frontline staff
  • Coordinate emergency alerts, physician paging, and the Emergency Notification System
  • Work with Workforce Management, Quality Assurance, and leaders to standardize operations and drive improvement
  • Act as the shift authority during critical events
  • Maintain reliable communications supporting patient care, physician response, and hospital operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years of experience in emergency or non-emergency communications, call center operations, or a high-volume, around-the-clock operation
  • At least three years in a supervisory, lead, or team leadership role
  • Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification preferred
  • Emergency Telecommunicator Certification (ETC) preferred
  • FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) courses preferred
  • Ability to lead teams in live operational settings
  • Ability to manage complex situations and make timely operational decisions
  • Availability for the assigned third, or night, shift in a 24/7/365 operation
