Business Development Manager, Corporate Banking - Glasgow Onsite

Lead corporate banking business development across Scotland by identifying opportunities, shaping client strategies, and structuring lending solutions. Build relationships and guide transactions from initial engagement through completion.

Description

  • Research markets, trends, and customer needs to uncover new business opportunities
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and industry events
  • Create and deliver acquisition strategies that expand the customer base
  • Develop proposals and presentations, and negotiate commercial agreements
  • Partner with Relationship Directors, relationship teams, product managers, credit analysts, operations, and other internal stakeholders
  • Structure lending solutions and manage transactions from initial engagement through completion
  • Set sales forecasts and monitor progress against targets
  • Provide management with updates on business development activity, pipeline health, and sales performance
  • Support business development strategies and initiatives that contribute to revenue growth
  • Hand over successfully onboarded client relationships to Relationship Directors for ongoing management
  • Manage risk, reinforce controls, and support governance policies
  • Analyse complex internal and external data to resolve business problems
  • Explain complex information clearly and influence stakeholders toward successful outcomes

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success building client relationships with a strong business development focus
  • Established profile and credibility within the regional business community
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to maintain trusted relationships
  • Detailed knowledge of regional companies, networks, and target markets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills delivered with professionalism and credibility
  • Persistent, resilient, and proactive in pursuing business results
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage several opportunities concurrently
  • Strategic approach to client engagement, follow-up, and business growth
  • Experience leading marketing programmes, sponsorships, and events as a visible business representative
  • Working knowledge of banking products and services is desirable
