Senior On-Site Desktop Support Technician

Provide on-site desktop support across L3Harris manufacturing and engineering operations, resolving hardware, software, and network issues. Support production systems, cybersecurity, IT projects, and Level 1 technicians.

Description

  • Troubleshoot user IT issues reported by ticket, phone, or in person across desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and peripherals.
  • Resolve escalated Level 1 cases involving workstations, servers, and specialized manufacturing and engineering equipment.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and applications, including Microsoft Office 365, SAP, CAD/CAM, and simulation software.
  • Diagnose network issues across LAN/WAN configurations, switches, routers, firewalls, PLCs, SCADA, and IoT networks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, patching, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security audits.
  • Set up and maintain audiovisual and collaboration systems for design reviews, virtual meetings, and training.
  • Record incidents, resolutions, configurations, and system changes in the ticketing system, and help develop knowledge base content.
  • Work with Level 3 engineers, IT managers, and external vendors on complex issues, new technologies, and facility-wide IT projects.
  • Follow IT governance, cybersecurity practices, data protection regulations, and manufacturing standards.
  • Train and mentor Level 1 technicians and end users on advanced IT tools, troubleshooting, and security awareness.
  • Oversee IT inventory, asset lifecycle, and procurement, including assessing and recommending hardware and software.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree or 2 years of post-secondary education with at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, remote management tools, and monitoring software.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing technologies such as ERP, MES, SCADA, and industrial automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure in production-critical situations.
  • Willingness to keep learning and adapt to changing technologies.
