Description

  • Manage assigned property claims from initial inspection through final damage resolution
  • Conduct residential and commercial property inspections in the field, virtually, within local territories, and during catastrophe deployments
  • Analyze damage alongside claim records, policy terms, endorsements, deductibles, prior damage, photographs, imagery, and supporting documents
  • Produce accurate estimates, record findings, oversee supplements, and authorize payments when appropriate
  • Manage damage-related activities and supplements, using sound judgment to resolve straightforward matters efficiently
  • Coordinate with Inside Claim Representatives on ownership, handoffs, compliance, customer updates, and claim outcomes
  • Engage approved vendors and available resources to support quality, service, and expense objectives
  • Respond to local territory needs, catastrophe events, and evolving business priorities
  • Use property claims expertise, construction knowledge, estimating capability, and Xactimate proficiency
  • Apply critical thinking when assessing damage, arranging inspections, and addressing customer or contractor concerns
  • Provide property damage expertise to Personal Insurance, Business Insurance, and Catastrophe Claim Operations
  • Use AI-enabled tools to improve claims efficiency, quality, consistency, decisions, and processes
  • Develop effective working relationships with customers, claim partners, vendors, contractors, and leaders
  • Advance claims toward resolution, make well-reasoned decisions, escalate issues appropriately, and represent The Hartford professionally

Requirements

  • A college degree and/or relevant professional experience
  • Preferred experience in property claims, construction, field adjusting, estimating, catastrophe response, or Xactimate
  • Strong capabilities in customer service, communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and organization
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, make sound decisions, and handle difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new technologies and tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused, collaborative approach
  • Availability for nationwide catastrophe operations when needed, including deployments generally lasting 10–14 days and potentially longer depending on business needs and event severity
  • Ability to obtain and retain required Property & Casualty Adjuster licenses
  • Successful completion of applicable licensing exams within 30 business days after licensing training is required for continued employment
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company and insurance standards for operating a company vehicle
