Internal Audit Manager, Integrated Reporting and Sustainability

Lead assurance over Absa’s Integrated Report and sustainability disclosures. Manage ISAE 3000-aligned audits, materiality assessments, governance reviews, and stakeholder assurance.

Description

  • Direct independent audit, evaluation, and assurance activities for the annual Integrated Report and related corporate disclosures
  • Verify compliance with the applicable Framework, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, GRI, and internal governance requirements
  • Manage integrated reporting assurance, including content verification, readiness activities, stakeholder engagement, materiality assessments, cross-functional audit coordination, and reporting reliability
  • Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of the annual Integrated Report and corporate disclosures
  • Create and maintain the Integrated Reporting roadmap
  • Coordinate cross-functional input, content production, assurance schedules, and governance reviews
  • Lead materiality assessments while maintaining supporting evidence and traceability
  • Draft, edit, and improve Integrated Report sections using documented evidence and audit trails
  • Coordinate internal and external assurance work and support preparation for ISAE 3000 engagements
  • Address assurance questions, resolve reporting gaps, and strengthen reporting processes
  • Perform internal quality assurance reviews before committee and Board submissions
  • Work with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Strategy, HR, Sustainability, Treasury, and Operations
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, assurance providers, regulators, and industry bodies
  • Present reporting updates and insights to governance forums, committees, and working groups
  • Advance integrated thinking across organisational clusters
  • Improve reporting processes, data quality, systems, controls, and narrative consistency
  • Track regulatory and assurance developments
  • Lead capability-building initiatives covering non-financial reporting, ESG disclosures, integrated reporting, and assurance readiness

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Sustainability, Corporate Reporting, Economics, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies is required
  • Professional qualifications such as CA(SA), CFA, ESG certifications, or integrated reporting and corporate reporting credentials are beneficial
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in integrated reporting, corporate reporting, sustainability reporting, or a related field
  • Experience with the Framework, sustainability standards including IFRS S1, IFRS S2, and GRI, or assurance environments
  • Strong understanding of financial and non-financial performance drivers, strategic disclosures, and materiality assessments
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders in large, complex organisations
  • Strong strategic judgement
  • Advanced audit capability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of non-financial and financial performance
  • Ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable findings and recommendations
  • Knowledge of ISAE 3000 engagement standards and assurance requirements
  • Knowledge of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards and GRI
  • Knowledge of integrated reporting and ESG disclosures
