AI Software Engineer at Ambrook (Hybrid)

Build LLM-powered bookkeeping and financial workflow tools at Ambrook, supporting family-run businesses. Develop AI evaluation, document extraction, transaction-tagging, and user-in-the-loop systems.

Description

  • Develop LLM-based systems, generative AI solutions, and heuristics that streamline bookkeeping and financial workflows
  • Create infrastructure for evaluating AI systems
  • Establish best practices for ML system design, evaluation, prompt engineering, and scalable AI infrastructure
  • Process complex financial data from scanned PDFs, unformatted CSVs, and text-heavy emails
  • Enhance internal tools for classification, tagging, summarization, and user-in-the-loop AI systems
  • Develop an assistant that supports a critical bookkeeping workflow
  • Partner with operations, product, engineering, and design to understand customer workflows and deliver dependable AI features
  • Assess and improve evaluation infrastructure, harness design, shared memory, durability, and foundational components
  • Scale evaluation pipelines and extend harness capabilities
  • Implement and enhance document extraction and financial transaction-tagging systems
  • Own and scale systems supporting the AI CFO vision
  • Help shape AI strategy around task automation, confidence measurement, and human-in-the-loop decisions
  • Develop tools for prompt iteration, embedding search, labeling, and retraining
  • Share technical learnings through an Ambrook engineering blog post or open-source tool

Requirements

  • Experience delivering ML- or AI-powered features to production
  • Interest in applying language models to real-world, unstructured datasets
  • Practical judgment about choosing an LLM, regular expression, or user input for a task
  • Understanding of experimentation in a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, or fine-tuning
  • Experience with transactions, finance, document processing, or communications tools is a plus
  • Experience with TypeScript and AI tools such as Vercel AI SDK, Braintrust or similar evaluation platforms, and Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini APIs is a plus
  • Authorized to work in the United States for any employer
