Data Scientist – Machine Learning (Mexico City Hybrid)
Design, train, validate, monitor, and deploy machine learning models supporting Gentera’s financial services and microfinance operations in Mexico City.
Description
- Identify, map, and extract model inputs, including data sources, formats, and update frequency.
- Process and document identified inputs using data-validation methods and consistency testing.
- Perform exploratory analysis, data processing, and preparation for modeling.
- Experiment with and train classification, regression, and clustering models, evaluating results to select the best-performing model.
- Validate model performance consistency through cross-validation and backtesting.
- Monitor model performance, data drift, and business metrics.
- Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers and MLOps specialists to prepare models for production deployment.
- Migrate data science team models to an analytical model platform on GCP.
- Create clear, reusable documentation to support future model maintenance.
- Continue developing expertise in current analytical technologies and apply them across projects.
Requirements
- More than three years of experience in data science as a Data Scientist.
- Advanced Python experience applied to machine learning.
- Intermediate SQL experience and knowledge of sound data-query construction practices.
- Basic Git experience and familiarity with reproducibility and version-control practices.
- Cloud experience for machine learning using GCP, including Vertex AI or BigQuery, or AWS SageMaker.
- Experience training classification, regression, and clustering models, with knowledge of statistics, probability, distributions, and Jupyter notebooks.
- Experience preparing models for production; MLOps and model-deployment knowledge is desirable. Diplomas or certifications in data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence are a plus.
- Availability to work on a hybrid schedule Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Mexico City, Mexico.
