Business Development Manager - Remote in the United States

Drive industrial customer growth for Divert’s food-waste prevention and renewable-energy platform. Own regional pipeline development, solution sales, and customer onboarding across California and Oregon.

Description

  • Research the regional market and align facility capabilities and capacity with customer needs
  • Analyze industrial customer segments, market conditions, competitors, partners, and pricing
  • Build and manage a pipeline from prospect identification through qualification and deal closure
  • Develop trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders and gain a detailed understanding of their needs
  • Design customer solutions using Divert’s available offerings
  • Represent customer feedback and priorities across the team and wider organization
  • Share market challenges, customer pain points, and growth opportunities
  • Deliver a coordinated, high-touch experience from business development through onboarding
  • Hand off newly acquired customers effectively to Customer Success
  • Partner with Marketing, RevOps, Customer Success, Product, and Operations
  • Travel 25–50% annually

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, engineering, data science, or a related discipline
  • 2–4 years of experience in business development, customer acquisition, and project execution
  • 2–4 years of experience in energy, recycling, food and beverage, and/or transportation
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
  • Excellent communication skills and empathy for varied audience needs
  • Proven ability to apply data analysis in a commercial or business development setting
  • Strong attention to detail, urgency, independence, and collaborative execution in cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with standard business software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in physical operations, including plant operations, manufacturing, or similar environments
  • Ability to build customer pipelines, develop relationships, and close business
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-growing environment with many internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability and/or practical industry experience
  • Experience selling solutions involving liquid waste such as DAF or SAF sludge, palletized waste, or physical operations such as plant operations or manufacturing
