  • Lead design, engineering, integration, release, and lifecycle management for airbag module and seat belt common-component hardware across vehicle programs.
  • Direct the development and integration of airbag modules, steering wheels, and seat belt hardware with engineering and program teams.
  • Provide technical direction for safety investigations, product remediation, open field actions, and lot-acceptance testing nonconformance reports.
  • Balance occupant protection needs with component reuse, manufacturing constraints, cost, mass, timing, quality, and program risk.
  • Set strategy, align interfaces, and drive technical execution across vehicle programs and suppliers.
  • Report technical status, risks, recommendations, and recovery plans to internal and external partners.
  • Provide technical leadership across component design, integration, release, validation, and best-practice implementation.
  • Convert vehicle- and system-level occupant protection needs into component requirements and design controls.
  • Make technical decisions using engineering analysis, test results, failure evidence, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Lead product development and supplier activities covering engineering, release, validation, sourcing, build, and launch deliverables.
  • Execute Quality Chain activities, DFMEAs, interface requirements, design reviews, validation plans, engineering changes, and program milestones.
  • Oversee production releases, component configuration, PPAP readiness, validation evidence, and product traceability.
  • Use DFSS and structured problem-solving tools to improve performance, quality, cost, mass, complexity, and manufacturability.
  • Lead technical resolution of development, validation, manufacturing, supplier, warranty, and field issues.
  • Establish root cause, containment, read-across, corrective action, and documented closure for safety-critical component concerns.
  • Maintain investigation status, risks, ownership, timing, decisions, remediation actions, and closure deliverables.

Reikalavimai

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, materials, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least six years of DRE or equivalent experience in full-cycle product development involving safety-critical components.
  • Working knowledge of airbag modules, airbag inflators, seat belts, steering wheels, or related vehicle safety hardware.
  • Strong understanding of engineering release, validation, change management, supplier quality, PPAP, and vehicle program processes.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems through physics-based analysis, test data, failure evidence, and structured root-cause methods.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues, risks, and recommendations to engineering teams, suppliers, cross-functional partners, and leaders.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions in ambiguous situations and independently drive issues through closure.
  • Experience collaborating with global OEM, supplier, manufacturing, validation, and program teams.
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support.
  • Master of Science or another advanced engineering degree preferred.
  • DFSS Black Belt certification or Red X experience preferred.
  • Direct experience with airbag modules, seat belt systems, pyrotechnic devices, occupant kinematics, or safety field investigations preferred.
  • Experience developing DFMEAs, validation plans, interface requirements, design controls, and safety-critical product controls preferred.
