Technical Inside Sales Representative - Grand Rapids, MI

Description

  • Report to the Location Manager
  • Learn product components and explain how they function
  • Assess customer applications and recommend suitable products and solutions
  • Build relationships with current customers and identify prospective clients
  • Collaborate closely with vendors
  • Provide customers with consistently positive, empathetic, and professional service
  • Respond quickly to customer inquiries
  • Communicate with customers and vendors across multiple channels
  • Translate complex technical information into clear explanations
  • Follow up with customers and address issues through resolution
  • Participate in product training and help develop team members
  • Read and interpret P&ID drawings and technical specifications
  • Act as the product-line expert for assigned products
  • Keep up with evolving product offerings and apply product knowledge in sales conversations
  • Manage vendor relationships and maintain internal pricing and sales databases
  • Share information about new technology products with customers and colleagues
  • Prepare proposals and reports for technical products
  • Keep customer communications and contact records up to date
  • Process orders, quotations, and occasional requests
  • Coordinate work with internal colleagues
  • Conduct outbound prospecting calls and follow up on quotes and leads
  • Recognize customer needs and identify sales opportunities
  • Answer customer questions and provide supplementary information
  • Maintain records of current and prospective customers
  • Recommend additional products and services when appropriate
  • Complete sales and meet assigned sales targets
  • Travel occasionally to branches, training sessions, or business seminars
  • Handle other assigned duties and projects

Requirements

  • At least three years of industrial sales experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, technical degree, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and bid specifications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and reprioritize as needed
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, continually changing environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions
  • Excellent service skills for internal and external customers
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to see, speak, and hear
  • Ability to remain seated for up to eight hours per day
  • Related technical experience preferred but not required
  • Epicor or Solar Eclipse experience preferred but not required
