Barclays is seeking a Data Scientist to develop Python, SQL, statistical, and machine learning solutions for Financial Crime Screening. The role supports data forensics, analytics, automation, compliance, and stakeholder collaboration in Noida and Gurugram.

Description

  • Source and gather data from internal and external systems
  • Clean, reshape, and prepare datasets for analysis
  • Build and support automated data pipelines
  • Create and evaluate statistical and machine learning models
  • Develop predictive models to anticipate outcomes and uncover risks and opportunities
  • Partner with business stakeholders to apply data science to business value
  • Support Financial Crime Screening technology services and provide reliable data forensics
  • Perform analytical and development tasks with technical teams delivering platform capabilities
  • Oversee adherence to sanctions policies and established working practices
  • Use statistical, machine learning, and analytical methods to address complex operational and business problems
  • Develop scalable Python and SQL code for extracting, transforming, analysing, and visualising data
  • Create dashboards, reports, and visualisations in Power BI and Tableau
  • Deliver data forensics and advanced analytics for Financial Crime Screening programmes
  • Build, enhance, and maintain analytical and machine learning solutions
  • Handle on-demand analysis and explain findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Work with data engineering and technology teams to acquire, transform, and optimise data
  • Contribute to automation, analytics, and AI initiatives supporting Group strategy
  • Build knowledge of Financial Crime prevention controls, systems, and operating processes
  • Maintain relationships with business functions, senior leaders, and Compliance
  • Provide guidance on complex matters and help resolve escalated issues
  • Identify risk-reduction measures and create supporting policies and procedures
  • Manage operational risk and reinforce control effectiveness
  • Lead or mentor colleagues on complex assignments while working across functions
  • Analyse data from multiple sources to investigate and solve complex problems
  • Present complex or sensitive information clearly and influence relevant stakeholders
  • Represent the team or department in meetings and site visits

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, data science, or another quantitative field
  • Relevant background in data science, data analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence
  • Substantial practical experience programming in Python and SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and solution development
  • Experience creating and maintaining analytical models based on statistical and machine learning methods
  • Proficiency with Power BI and Tableau for dashboards, visualisations, and business reporting
  • Strong knowledge of analytics practices, exploratory data analysis, and effective data visualisation
  • Experience analysing large, complex datasets
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of or experience in Financial Crime Operations, Screening, Compliance, or Risk Management
  • Working understanding of end-to-end payment flows
  • Basic knowledge of data engineering, ETL, data warehousing, and server-side database technologies
  • Experience with cloud analytics platforms and big data technologies is advantageous
  • Collaborative team member with strong analytical, presentation, and communication abilities
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently
  • Able to take ownership and resolve issues promptly
  • Adaptable, positive, and motivated to solve problems
