Lead workers' compensation claims operations remotely from California, with responsibility for compliance, staffing, performance, and complex settlements. Support CorVel's risk management services through consistent claims practices and operational oversight.

Description

  • Oversee the operations of an assigned office.
  • Establish and implement company best practices.
  • Set long-term objectives and strategic goals.
  • Evaluate operational activities, costs, and performance.
  • Advance the objectives of CorVel and its Claims Department.
  • Serve as a company representative for internal and external customers and clients.
  • Lead employee performance management and professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with workers' compensation legislation and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Train, coach, and complete recurring employee performance reviews.
  • Apply jurisdiction-specific expertise, rules, statutes, and procedures.
  • Track workflow, staffing requirements, and retention initiatives.
  • Establish and manage consistent claims procedures and practices.
  • Evaluate and resolve high-value or escalated claims.
  • Increase efficiency, quality, and consistency across processes, personnel, and systems.
  • Enforce compliance with CorVel policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience combined with relevant education.
  • At least six years of comprehensive workers' compensation administration experience.
  • At least two years of recent supervisory or management experience.
  • Maintain a current workers' compensation license or certification throughout employment with CorVel.
  • Self-Insured Certificate preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpretive abilities.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in demanding conditions.
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure and communicate diplomatically.
  • Proficiency with computers and common business applications.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation claims administration, case management, and cost containment.
  • Ability to travel overnight and attend meetings.
