Director of Scientific Data Architecture
Lead scientific data architecture for life sciences, developing reusable pharmaceutical data models, content libraries, and ontologies. Support L7 Informatics’ SYNAPSE Agentic AI and customer implementations across the United States in a remote role.

- Create foundational master and process data models for precision science, starting with pharmaceutical workflows.
- Design reusable data structures for scientific procedures and technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
- Align data models with ISA-88, ISA-95, and FAIR principles.
- Set L7 Informatics’ scientific content strategy and oversee its modular, reusable content library.
- Organize data models, ontologies, and content so SYNAPSE Agentic AI can automate configuration, data mapping, and workflow standardization.
- Advise senior leaders at strategic customers, aligning models with their operations and scientific objectives.
- Represent L7 Informatics’ architecture and expertise in the market.
- Work with product management, engineering, and delivery leaders to turn recurring customer needs into platform capabilities.
- Hire, lead, and develop a team of scientists and data developers.
- Support the quality management system by following the Quality Policy and standard operating procedures and meeting its objectives.
- Roll out a standard pharmaceutical data model and content library in new implementations.
- Reduce implementation timelines by using reusable content.
- Enable SYNAPSE to configure customer workflows using standard models and ontologies.

- At least 10 years of experience in scientific data architecture, laboratory or manufacturing informatics (LIMS, MES, or ELN), or life sciences solutions consulting.
- Experience advising executive audiences.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end pharmaceutical processes.
- Demonstrated experience implementing data architectures and mapping them to ISA-88 and ISA-95.
- Working knowledge of laboratory data standards, including the Allotrope Framework (ASM/AFO).
- Knowledge of GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11/EU Annex 11, ALCOA+, and ICH Q12/Q14.
- Hands-on experience applying LLMs or agentic AI to scientific data modeling, ontology development, or content generation.
- Familiarity with scientific ontologies, including the Allotrope Foundation Ontology, OBO Foundry ontologies such as OBI and ChEBI, and QUDT.
- A track record of designing scalable, reusable data models, workflows, or content libraries.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing teams of scientific domain experts and software developers.
- A master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of L4 enterprise systems and L3 LIMS, MES, and scheduling systems, as well as L2 automation.
- Familiarity with SiLA 2, OPC UA LADS, ISO IDMP, LOINC/HL7 FHIR, and GS1 is an advantage.
- Participation in Allotrope, Pistoia Alliance, or BioPhorum consortia is a plus.
