Description

  • Analyze complex operational data with data science and AI to uncover performance declines, systemic problems, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop code-first analyses and models for automated or semi-automated identification of performance opportunities.
  • Apply AI and advanced analytics to assess, prioritize, and strengthen POAM effectiveness against contractual performance objectives.
  • Partner with performance analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to turn operational challenges into data-informed solutions.
  • Select and apply suitable AI methods while maintaining appropriate levels of explainability and defensibility.
  • Create reusable analytical methods, code, and practices that expand the team’s data science and AI capabilities.
  • Present analytical findings clearly and credibly to technical audiences, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Contribute to wider Navy performance efforts, including WAM, by extending relevant methods beyond SLR-focused applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience.
  • Additional professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain and retain an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Background applying data science, machine learning, or AI to practical operational or performance challenges.
  • Strong problem-framing ability, including interpreting ambiguity, identifying useful data, and selecting suitable analytical methods.
  • Proficiency in Python or a comparable language for data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience analyzing large, untidy, or diverse datasets.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly and support them with defensible reasoning.
  • Willingness to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience using applied machine learning, statistical modeling, or AI for pattern detection, prioritization, or forecasting.
  • Understanding of operational metrics, service-level agreements, or contract-based environments.
  • Ability to balance sophisticated analytical techniques with explainability and stakeholder confidence.
  • Exposure to AI enablement, platform-oriented approaches, or reusable analytics frameworks.
  • Experience working in large-scale or enterprise settings.
