Junior Business Development Engineer – ASEAN and India Remote

Support BlackForest Solutions’ waste-management consultancy and hazardous-waste logistics work as a junior business development engineer. Build proposals, manage pipelines, develop partnerships, and research markets across Southeast Asia and India.

Description

  • Support business development for the Trans-Frontier Shipments (TFS) and Technical Consultancy (TC) service lines
  • Find new commercial opportunities and cultivate client relationships
  • Develop technical proposals and manage opportunities from initial lead through handover
  • Report to the Business Development Manager
  • Assist the Tenders lead with responses to requests for proposals
  • Write methodology and scope sections for TC and TFS technical proposals
  • Tailor technical materials and templates to different projects and target markets
  • Help format and assemble proposal submissions
  • Research regulations, waste streams, and market conditions
  • Prepare cost calculations and assist with pricing, pipeline forecasts, cash-flow forecasts, and financial sections of proposals
  • Help implement and improve the sales process
  • Maintain the business development pipeline in Pipedrive and support weekly updates and internal reports
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings, record decisions, and monitor action items
  • Find and develop relationships with prospective clients and project partners across Southeast Asia and India
  • Manage routine communications with clients and partners
  • Create briefing materials for business development and tender calls, then record debriefs and next steps
  • Research and map markets, sectors, and customer segments in target regions
  • Keep the service-offering readiness dashboard up to date
  • Track competitor activity, market positioning, and industry trends
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform business development strategy
  • Follow proposal quality and documentation standards while helping improve tools, templates, and workflows
  • Keep current with waste-management trends and regulatory changes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline, ideally focused on waste management or environmental engineering
  • One to three years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience with technical writing, proposals, or environmental consulting is helpful but not required
  • Previous sales experience is not required
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Additional language skills are advantageous
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel for calculations and forecasting
  • Experience with Pipedrive or another CRM is beneficial
  • Ability to work with technical and regulatory material without being a deep subject-matter specialist
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to turn technical information into clear, client-ready copy
  • Well organized and self-directed, with the flexibility to manage drafting, administration, and coordination tasks in parallel
  • Able to work independently and own deliverables when the Business Development Manager is unavailable or traveling
  • Based in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia or neighboring ASEAN countries, or in India, within the same time zone as the Business Development Manager
