Graphics Programmer – Mobile Games (Hybrid, Leamington Spa)

Develop high-performance graphics for Pixel Toys’ multi-platform mobile games. Create shaders, optimise render pipelines, and build efficient graphics systems for diverse mobile hardware.

Description

  • Set graphics quality and performance targets for multi-platform titles, with emphasis on mobile hardware
  • Introduce technical solutions that enhance visual quality and team collaboration
  • Work closely with Technical Artists, Engineers, and Designers
  • Design, prototype, and implement graphics systems that balance visual fidelity with runtime efficiency
  • Create and maintain robust shaders and graphics features
  • Optimise for mobile constraints including memory, overdraw, and thermal throttling
  • Profile devices and diagnose graphics performance bottlenecks
  • Use mobile graphics APIs such as Vulkan and Metal to investigate and resolve visual issues
  • Improve rendering pipeline performance
  • Own post-processing, culling, LOD, and lightmapping systems
  • Maintain a stable, efficient graphics codebase across supported hardware

Requirements

  • Professional experience developing software in C# or C++
  • Working knowledge of coding standards, software architecture, and graphics pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with HLSL, GLSL, or CG shaders, ideally using Physically Based Rendering workflows
  • Familiarity with Unity Scriptable Render Pipelines, including shader keywords, variants, batching, render passes, and custom renderer features
  • Experience profiling, debugging, and optimising graphics on Android or iOS devices
  • Working knowledge of modern mobile graphics APIs such as Vulkan and Metal
  • Strong understanding of 3D mathematics
  • Experience optimising art assets, including post-processing, culling, LOD systems, and lightmaps
  • Strong visual judgement, practical problem-solving ability, and a collaborative approach with technical artists and cross-functional game teams
