Data Scientist, Product Analytics — Humin, US Remote

Join Humin as a Data Scientist focused on product analytics and measurement systems for digital wellbeing tools. Analyze engagement, retention, product outcomes, and organizational performance to guide evidence-based decisions.

Description

  • Own and improve Humin’s data and measurement foundation, including event taxonomies, schemas, quality controls, and analytical infrastructure
  • Convert Product and Science needs into instrumentation specifications, acceptance criteria, and validation tests for Engineering
  • Audit instrumentation and data quality by finding tracking gaps, duplicate events, schema changes, and inconsistent data, then support remediation
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reporting systems
  • Evaluate user behavior and product performance across acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, churn, and wellbeing outcomes
  • Establish and validate engagement measures, including the North Star metric, and connect usage patterns with validated wellbeing outcomes
  • Use funnel, cohort, retention, and segmentation methods while developing toward survival analysis and predictive modeling
  • Assist with experiment design and analysis, including evaluation of relationships between product usage and validated wellbeing measures
  • Turn product data into recommendations for product strategy, personalization, and user experience
  • Analyze trends across marketing, acquisition, audiences, pipelines, and funders
  • Develop organizational KPI reporting and outcome measures for grant reports and funder deliverables
  • Present concise, actionable findings to leadership, the board, development, marketing, and other non-technical audiences
  • Partner with the Science team on measurement selection, sample-size planning, analysis, and interpretation
  • Apply psychometric methods to rigorously assess and interpret wellbeing outcomes
  • Explain statistical findings through clear, accessible narratives
  • Contribute analysis to research publications, presentations, and technical reports

Requirements

  • Two to four years of experience in data science, product analytics, or a related analytical role, or equivalent graduate research experience
  • Practical experience with event or product data, including collaboration with Engineering on instrumentation and data quality
  • Experience in product analytics and applied statistics, using funnel, cohort, retention, and related methods to understand user behavior and outcomes
  • Fluency in SQL
  • Proficiency in Python or R
  • Experience working with data pipelines and diagnosing data-quality problems
  • Ability to translate stakeholder questions into defined data requirements and explain findings clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interest in and commitment to, or lived alignment with, wellbeing, mindfulness, and the science of human flourishing
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for staff gatherings and other organizational meetings or events
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
  • Preferred: Experience designing or evaluating experiments, including A/B tests, or familiarity with causal inference and quasi-experimental methods
  • Preferred: Knowledge of measurement design and psychometric concepts, including validated instruments and meaningful-change interpretation
  • Preferred: Experience with predictive modeling or survival analysis
  • Preferred: Experience in behavioral health, wellbeing science, or another research-informed product setting
  • Preferred: Experience with marketing, mobile, or business and revenue analytics
  • Preferred: Experience with mobile SDK instrumentation or legacy-data reconciliation and migration
  • Preferred: Experience in a nonprofit or dual-revenue organization
