Creative Director, Cannabis Brand Strategy (Remote)

Lead brand strategy, integrated campaigns, and multichannel creative for High Profile, while developing AI-enabled production systems and managing a four-person creative team.

Description

  • Lead creative strategy, brand identity, and operations for High Profile’s marketing organization.
  • Direct creative across in-store, wholesale, packaged-brand, traditional media, paid digital, and organic social channels.
  • Establish creative standards and give final approval before work reaches the VP of Marketing or other stakeholders.
  • Guide ideation for tentpole campaigns and facilitate brainstorms with marketing teams.
  • Set the central idea, tone, visual direction, and example executions for major initiatives.
  • Protect brand consistency across channels and hold internal teams, partners, and agencies to established standards.
  • Compare creative performance and quality with leading work in retail, CPG, and adjacent categories.
  • Set quality standards for paid advertising across display, paid social, video, direct mail, and out-of-home.
  • Develop compliant creative for every operating state.
  • Own creative direction and content quality for paid digital and organic social in partnership with the Digital team.
  • Lead concepts for seasonal campaigns, brand programs, and new channel launches.
  • Direct the Design Manager on traditional media creative.
  • Own and refine recurring production workflows, beginning with the weekly promotional process.
  • Assess and deploy AI and workflow tools that improve creative capacity and output.
  • Set strategic priorities, allocate workloads, and support professional growth across the creative and design team.
  • Create a scalable, documented operating model for creative development, briefing, and critique.
  • Report team performance, capacity, and initiative progress to the VP of Marketing.
  • Manage the creative and design budget against target.
  • Develop strong partnerships with buying and planning, retail, compliance, wholesale, facilities, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Manage the Design Manager, Senior Graphic Designer, and Graphic Designer while leading a four-person team.
  • Oversee external paid media agencies.

Requirements

  • At least six years of creative experience, including three or more years as a Creative Director, Associate Creative Director, or comparable leader.
  • At least three years at an integrated, full-service, or brand agency in a concept-led role such as copywriter, Design Manager, ACD, or CD, developing campaign ideas rather than only producing assets.
  • Agency experience serving retail, consumer, or regulated-category clients, with campaigns delivered in-store and through paid, social, and CRM channels.
  • A portfolio showing integrated work from initial concept through execution across at least three channels.
  • Portfolio examples demonstrating distinctive paid-media creative across digital and traditional formats.
  • A strong, current perspective on social-native content, ideally supported by experience linking content quality to measurable performance.
  • Experience creating or improving creative production systems and workflows; familiarity with AI-supported workflows is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing a creative or design team of at least three people.
  • Experience leading brainstorms or concept development with cross-functional partners, including examples of ideas others expanded across channels.
  • Ability to work independently with substantial autonomy and bring proactive recommendations to leadership.
  • Cannabis or other regulated-industry experience is helpful but not required.
