Senior Fraud and AML Operations Lead

Lead Pennylane’s first-line transaction monitoring and fraud operations as it launches regulated payment services. Build the teams and processes that support financial crime controls for business customers.

Description

  • Lead first-line transaction monitoring and fraud operations for business customers from end to end.
  • Keep alert triage, investigations, customer contact, and escalations aligned with Compliance and Risk policies and service levels.
  • Turn AML/CFT and fraud policies into practical procedures, decision trees, and analyst playbooks.
  • Review complex or high-risk alerts and oversee fraud cases arising after onboarding.
  • Maintain complete, auditable records for escalations, customer complaints, and law-enforcement requests.
  • Set up quality assurance and reporting frameworks, and track operational and risk indicators.
  • Assist Compliance with control testing, audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Hire, onboard, and lead transaction monitoring and fraud analysts.
  • Create performance and capacity frameworks covering service levels, productivity, quality, backlogs, false-positive rates, and hiring needs.
  • Work with Product and Tech to improve monitoring, fraud, and back-office workflows and identify automation priorities.
  • Prepare operating procedures, playbooks, and escalation rules ahead of launch.
  • Plan capacity and hiring, and validate alert queues, evidence collection, account measures, and handovers to second-line teams.
  • Launch first-line monitoring for new customers with trained coverage, agreed service levels, and documented quality controls.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in transaction monitoring, fraud, or other financial crime operations in a regulated financial services setting.
  • Experience leading and developing an operations team handling alert queues or investigations.
  • Strong grasp of first-line alert handling, including triage, investigation, typologies, escalation, and distinguishing fraud cases from AML cases.
  • Working knowledge of French and European AML/CFT expectations, including ACPR and TRACFIN requirements.
  • Experience turning policies into standard procedures, decision trees, and analyst guidance.
  • Experience partnering with Product or Tech on workflow or tooling improvements.
  • Ability to use operational metrics to manage quality, backlogs, and capacity.
  • Sound, well-documented decision-making under pressure and clear communication of complex cases.
  • Confidence building operations in a new, greenfield environment.
  • Fluent French and English.
  • Based in France; Paris is strongly preferred.
  • Able to be regularly on-site in Paris, with some remote work possible.
  • Eligible to work in France; visa sponsorship is not currently available.
