Payroll Manager – Network Plus (Hybrid, Worsley)

Lead accurate, compliant payroll operations for more than 5,000 Network Plus employees. Oversee payroll teams, reporting, audits, systems, payments, and continuous improvement in this hybrid Worsley role.

Description

  • Lead and support the Payroll Supervisor and payroll clerks
  • Oversee weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll processing for more than 5,000 employees
  • Maintain compliance with payroll legislation, tax rules, and employment law
  • Keep payroll records and employee compensation data accurate and current
  • Calculate salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, benefits in kind, and pension contributions
  • Complete P11D records until the transition to Real Time Information
  • Produce payroll reports for management and regulatory bodies
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and respond to employee queries
  • Administer payroll software and identify opportunities for system improvement
  • Coordinate payroll activities with HR, Finance, and external agencies
  • Submit payment schedules to Treasury before payroll payments are made
  • Ensure the timely payment and reconciliation of taxes, pensions, statutory deductions, and HMRC accounts
  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits
  • Create and implement payroll policies and procedures
  • Contribute to ongoing payroll projects
  • Authorise bank payments
  • Undertake other management duties as required

Requirements

  • Demonstrated payroll supervisory or management experience in a comparable role, including multi-payroll environments
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and employment law
  • Experience with payroll, time-management, and HR systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and payroll reporting experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential information
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with Civica Payroll, Sage 50, and ADP Timesheet Management
  • CIPP accreditation, management training, and basic accounting qualifications are preferred but not required
