Risk Claims Analyst — The University of Kansas Health System

Support healthcare risk and insurance operations by coordinating claims, renewals, reporting, and litigation discovery. The role also contributes to patient safety, physician education, and early resolution of claims.

Descriere

  • Support the Risk, Claims, and Insurance Department across physician risk, claims administration, and insurance operations.
  • Research risk and claims matters and prepare statistical reports.
  • Respond to underwriting requests and help gather information for insurance renewals.
  • Process new claims and ensure they are reported accurately and on time.
  • Communicate on behalf of department management with hospital leaders, vendors, physicians, staff, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate insurance renewals and certificates, provider coverage changes, and refund tracking.
  • Assist with general liability, property, and auto claims, including claim coordination.
  • Coordinate litigation discovery responses and record case activity and correspondence in a database.
  • Bring claim concerns to the team's attention.
  • Draft, revise, proofread, assemble, and distribute correspondence, reports, policies, website content, and related documents.
  • Prepare reports, activity calendars, and mass mailings.
  • Help maintain database structure, collect and analyze data, and distribute reports.
  • Review, prioritize, classify, and file confidential correspondence and records.
  • Help develop, implement, and monitor the claims management program.
  • Participate in Patient Relations committees, including grievance and appeal committees.
  • Support safe, high-quality patient care and efforts to reduce liability exposure.
  • Apply professional judgment and critical thinking to support timely, compassionate claims management.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of educational programs on risk management topics and claims trends.
  • Help contain claims and losses through early identification, assessment, and resolution.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Board of Healing Arts and UKP physicians regarding complaints.
  • Support early communication and resolution procedures after unexpected adverse care outcomes.
  • Coordinate claims and insurance information with Compliance, Risk Management, and other departments.
  • Contribute to education and orientation for new physicians.

Cerințe

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of broad administrative or project coordination experience, or experience in healthcare risk, insurance, and claims management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with other internet and intranet programs.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred: Technical or professional credentials and training in risk, claims, or insurance, or business school training.
  • Ability to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies required by the assigned unit or department.
