Senior Robotics Software Engineer, Autonomy Runtime and Integration — Israel Hybrid

Build ROS2 and modern C++ autonomy runtime infrastructure for Orca AI’s maritime defense systems. Integrate vessel interfaces, embedded deployments, simulation, and reliability workflows for sea trials.

Description

  • Lead the autonomy runtime across ROS2 and modern C++, covering architecture, module lifecycles, orchestration, state management, data flow, configuration, fault handling, and recovery.
  • Develop World Model ingestion and Vehicle Interface adapters for platform control systems.
  • Manage software deployment to vessel computers, including builds, packaging, versioning, configuration management, and continuous integration.
  • Partner with systems engineering and field teams on vessel bring-up, sea trials, and on-site debugging.
  • Create logging, recording, replay, and observability tools that enable desk-based reproduction of sea runs.
  • Integrate and maintain the software-in-the-loop simulation environment.
  • Ensure stack reliability, timing, and performance on embedded hardware.

Requirements

  • At least five years of software engineering experience in robotics or autonomous systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of ROS2.
  • Proficiency in modern C++.
  • Experience developing real-time and concurrent systems.
  • Demonstrated experience building infrastructure for autonomous systems.
  • Hands-on experience integrating vehicle platforms or low-level control interfaces.
  • Experience integrating simulation systems and implementing automated robotics tests.
  • A practical, field-oriented approach to engineering.
  • Preferred: experience with maritime platforms, marine autopilots, or NMEA, AIS, and radar interfaces.
  • Preferred: experience making autonomy stacks portable across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Preferred: experience designing HIL benches and conducting hardware-in-the-loop validation.
  • Preferred: experience with robotics observability and data tooling.
  • Preferred: experience in defense or other regulated programs.
