Senior Data Engineer — Remote in Spain at knowmad mood

Join knowmad mood as a Senior Data Engineer building scalable Spark and PySpark pipelines on Microsoft Azure. You will develop governed, production-ready data solutions for digital transformation clients.

Description

  • Build, enhance, and tune large-scale data pipelines with Apache Spark and Python/PySpark
  • Produce dependable, reusable datasets for analytical and business use cases
  • Create and support cloud data solutions on Microsoft Azure
  • Efficiently process, transform, store, and make data available across platforms and applications
  • Establish pipeline controls for data quality, validation, monitoring, and documentation
  • Work with data engineering, data science, architecture, and business stakeholders to translate needs into practical solutions
  • Advance engineering standards covering code quality, testing, version control, CI/CD, and automation
  • Use data governance, cataloging, and quality-monitoring practices
  • Help shape scalable architectures for cloud-based data platforms

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional experience in data engineering
  • At least five years of production experience using Apache Spark with Python or PySpark
  • A track record of building and maintaining production-grade pipelines in large-scale or complex data environments
  • Solid knowledge of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design
  • Experience architecting scalable cloud-based data platforms
  • Ability to advise on ETL/ELT practices and data engineering standards
  • Preferred: experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Workflows
  • Preferred: practical experience delivering data engineering solutions with Azure Databricks
  • Preferred: familiarity with data governance and data cataloging frameworks
