Remote Chief Information Officer

Chief Information Officer responsible for building Joyce University’s internal technology organization, AI capabilities, and analytics function. Leads digital transformation, cybersecurity, and student-success technology for a growing nursing university.

Description

  • Serve on the President’s Cabinet while reporting to the Chief Operating Officer
  • Establish Joyce University’s internal technology organization as it transitions away from its managed-services partner
  • Create a multi-year technology, data, and AI roadmap aligned with the strategic plan
  • Set measurable outcomes and communicate progress to the President and Cabinet
  • Deliver reliable, timely information to institutional leaders
  • Develop student-success analytics using LMS, SIS, and CRM data to support proactive coaching and completion
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to simplify operations and improve the student journey from recruitment through graduation
  • Develop AI systems, agents, and automated workflows that support students and staff at scale
  • Define policies for responsible, ethical, and secure use of AI
  • Oversee a secure, dependable, integrated technology environment supported by internal teams and external partners
  • Direct cybersecurity, business continuity, and compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and privacy requirements
  • Establish performance standards and accountability for technology partners
  • Define the internal technology organization’s structure, critical roles, and sourcing approach
  • Build and mentor the leadership team responsible for the internal technology organization
  • Counsel the President, Cabinet, and Board on technology investment, data, AI, and institutional risk
  • Ensure uninterrupted service throughout the transition to internal technology capabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, business, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of progressively increasing technology leadership experience, including substantial executive responsibility
  • Demonstrated success leading technology organizations in complex, regulated, mission-driven settings
  • Evidence of using technology to improve growth, student or customer experience, or outcomes beyond cost and efficiency gains
  • Experience creating or significantly expanding an organization’s technology function
  • Experience moving technology operations from an outsourced or managed-services model to internal ownership
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategies that improve performance through technology, data, analytics, and AI
  • Experience guiding academic or clinical leaders through technology-enabled change
  • Executive presence and communication skills to advise a President, Cabinet, and Board effectively
  • Ability to shape executive decisions, build cross-functional partnerships, and lead organizational change
  • Direct experience implementing AI, including institution-scale AI systems, agents, and automated workflows
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or another advanced degree in a related field
  • Preferred: Background in higher education, education technology, healthcare, or another complex service organization
  • Preferred: Familiarity with higher education platforms, including Salesforce, student information systems, and learning management systems
  • Preferred: Experience guiding technology-focused organizations through major growth and transformation
