Payroll Support Specialist — Canada Remote

Support payroll operations remotely from Canada by maintaining accurate data, audits, reports, and records. Handle employee service requests and administrative tasks for a North American pet health company.

Description

  • Maintain payroll records, processing workpapers, audit files, and electronic documentation across shared platforms
  • Create payroll templates, reporting tools, processing trackers, and recurring support materials
  • Enter payroll data and verify employee information for completeness and accuracy
  • Investigate discrepancies in employee records, timekeeping, leave administration, and payroll coding, escalating issues when necessary
  • Perform routine timecard and payroll audits, record exceptions, and prepare supporting analysis
  • Assemble audit logs, exception reports, and payroll validation records
  • Produce recurring payroll reports, data extracts, and reporting packages for stakeholders and internal teams
  • Keep payroll dashboards, trackers, and reporting resources current
  • Monitor payroll support channels and direct employee inquiries to the appropriate resources
  • Support ticket management, service request tracking, and payroll issue resolution
  • Deliver accurate administrative and operational assistance throughout the payroll cycle

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Associate degree or coursework in accounting, business administration, human resources, finance, or a related field is preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in payroll, administrative support, customer service, accounting, human resources, or a related function
  • Experience with data entry, reporting tools, or business systems is preferred
  • Internship, co-op, or payroll support experience is advantageous
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet recurring deadlines
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential employee information appropriately
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-oriented approach to supporting employees and business partners
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies quickly
