Field Service Engineer III - Singapore Hybrid

Field Service Engineer III responsible for installing, repairing, and calibrating Thermo Fisher Scientific analytical and microscopy instruments. Provides customer support, training, and field service throughout Singapore.

Description

  • Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific professionally while providing high-quality service to internal and external customers
  • Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and validate advanced analytical and microscopy instruments at customer sites
  • Carry out preventive maintenance, system calibration, and performance verification
  • Investigate complex hardware, software, vacuum, and system-level faults and apply corrective actions
  • Provide on-site and remote technical assistance while responding to customer requests within service-level agreements
  • Train operators and provide customers with technical guidance
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, installation documents, and regulatory or quality protocols
  • Develop customer relationships and provide informed technical consultation
  • Work with Technical Support, Applications, Sales, and other cross-functional teams
  • Oversee service tools, test equipment, spare-parts inventory, and company assets
  • Identify potential service contract renewals, upgrades, and additional solutions
  • Follow company policies, quality systems, safety requirements, and applicable industry standards
  • Expand technical knowledge through product training and knowledge sharing
  • Travel frequently to customer sites throughout the assigned territory

Requirements

  • Advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience, or bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments
  • A background in electronics, physics, engineering, computer science, chemistry, or a related technical discipline is preferred
  • Completion of ongoing technical training and required certifications
  • Demonstrated expertise with ultra-high-vacuum systems, high-voltage electronics, and complex electromechanical systems
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across hardware and software issues
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a record of building positive customer relationships
  • Professional working proficiency in English; additional language skills are beneficial
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems, networking, and standard business software
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 25–50%
  • Ability to lift work equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work in laboratory environments
  • Experience mentoring and training others is preferred
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Availability to respond to urgent customer needs
  • Commitment to all safety protocols and ability to work in cleanroom environments when required
