Event and Sponsorship Research Coordinator

Research events, sponsorships, and partnership opportunities across Canada for a nonprofit that connects international students with host families. Assess opportunities against organizational priorities and recommend where to invest.

Description

  • Research events, community initiatives, and sponsorship opportunities across Canada.
  • Assess prospects using CHN’s criteria and scoring framework.
  • Apply CHN’s event selection guidelines to prioritize opportunities.
  • Align research and recommendations with CHN’s national and regional priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Evaluate audience fit, demographics, alignment with CHN values, geographic relevance, cost, expected impact, and potential value.
  • Contact event organizers to collect and verify information, pricing, and sponsorship details.
  • Recommend whether CHN should attend, sponsor, monitor, or decline each opportunity, explaining the rationale.
  • Maintain a national events and sponsorship calendar, track opportunities, and monitor decision deadlines.
  • Find strategic partnership prospects beyond standard event participation.
  • Record decisions, costs, outcomes, impact measures, and lessons learned to improve investment decisions and inform future planning.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with community groups, event organizers, and charitable and nonprofit partners.
  • Secure approved events and sponsorships and arrange them with adequate lead time.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, timelines, and participation requirements to colleagues handling execution.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with the public through events and community initiatives.
  • Research and analyze information from multiple sources, assess its reliability, and turn findings into clear recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, including when coordinating and following up.
  • Work effectively with a range of stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Organize projects and manage multiple opportunities, deadlines, and priorities at once.
  • Apply sound judgment, curiosity, and problem-solving; adapt to changing circumstances and recommend actions when information is incomplete.
  • Evaluate opportunities objectively against set criteria, including audience fit, strategic alignment, cost, and expected value.
  • Work comfortably with data, track results, and identify trends and insights over time.
  • Use office and communication tools and learn CHN’s systems and tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of marketing, sponsorship, community engagement, or partnership development is an asset.
  • Understand Canada’s diverse communities and account for regional and cultural differences when evaluating opportunities; this is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
