Legal Counsel, Technology, Procurement and Litigation
Advise Export Development Canada on technology, procurement, employment and litigation matters. Help business teams manage legal risk and make practical, commercially informed decisions.

- Provide practical legal advice on technology, procurement, employment and litigation matters.
- Advise on technology transactions, digital initiatives, software and cloud services, cybersecurity, data issues and emerging technologies.
- Guide procurement and commercial contracting, from drafting and negotiation to interpretation and administration of goods and services agreements.
- Advise on workplace policies, employee relations, accommodations, investigations and employment agreements.
- Manage legal advice on litigation, disputes, claims, investigations and other contentious matters.
- Set litigation strategy and evaluate legal and business risks.
- Draft, review and negotiate legal documents.
- Counsel on EDC’s rights and obligations, internal policies, approval and compliance requirements, and applicable legislation.
- Identify legal and business concerns and recommend proportionate ways to reduce risk.
- Help teams make timely decisions informed by commercial considerations.
- Select, instruct and oversee external counsel.
- Evaluate external legal advice and work product.
- Build effective relationships and help business teams solve problems through collaboration, sound judgment and practical advice.
Талаптар
- Undergraduate degree in law.
- Licensed and in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial bar to practise as a barrister and solicitor.
- At least 3 years of relevant legal experience for Legal Services 17 or 5 years for Legal Services 18.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Strong legal drafting ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and a high volume of transactions efficiently.
- Proactive legal and risk-mitigation skills developed in a commercially oriented, dynamic environment.
- Sound judgment and decision-making.
- Collaborative approach with Legal Services and other EDC teams.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Preference for candidates authorized to work in Canada when applying, including Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
- Must satisfy the required government security screening.
- English-French bilingualism is an asset.
- Knowledge of financing, guarantee or insurance law is an asset.
