Senior Data Analytics Advisor - Jhpiego, United States (Onsite)

Support Jhpiego’s global health programs through epidemiological modeling, GIS, and data visualization. Convert surveillance data into practical insights for outbreak preparedness and response.

Description

  • Build, maintain, and expand data collection systems and electronic data-capture tools
  • Combine and analyze multiple datasets to create indicators, calibration targets, and planning datasets
  • Develop geospatial datasets that combine epidemiological, laboratory, and surveillance information for HIV, malaria, and global health security events
  • Improve analytical workflows supporting surveillance and responses to internationally significant outbreaks, emerging infections, and public health emergencies
  • Create production scripts and tools to clean, transform, and validate international health data
  • Track data quality and identify anomalies associated with reporting mistakes, system failures, or emerging public health events
  • Conduct scheduled and as-needed data quality assurance reviews
  • Maintain or support data entry, documentation, and governance for program surveillance databases
  • Assist with developing, running, and refining analytical and epidemiological models
  • Gather and assess complex internal and external data, conduct statistical analyses, and summarize results
  • Produce tables, charts, maps, and Power BI visualizations for technical and general audiences
  • Apply ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS to mapping and spatial analyses, including clustering, hotspot, and proximity analysis
  • Convert geospatial analysis into visual materials for reports, briefings, and dashboards
  • Interpret analytical results and prepare technical reports, briefings, and summaries
  • Contribute to recurring and ad hoc reporting for HIV, malaria, and global health security programs
  • Work with epidemiologists, technical advisors, program teams, external partners, health ministries, and international organizations
  • Explain technical methods, analytical results, and data limitations to varied audiences

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or a related discipline focused on global health security
  • Seven to eight years of progressively responsible applied analytics experience, including at least two years of complex programming work
  • Advanced practical GIS expertise for creating maps and spatial analyses used in outbreak detection, monitoring, and response
  • Ability to turn complex data into actionable conclusions and communicate results to varied audiences
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving ability with meticulous attention to data accuracy
  • Additional education may replace required experience, and additional relevant experience may replace education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, where allowed by the JHU equivalency formula
  • Required technical capabilities include data architecture, data management and analysis, data tools and platforms, data validation and quality assurance, statistical modeling and programming, data visualization, GIS, programming languages, and machine learning
  • Experience with R or Python, including generative AI tools, reproducible analysis practices, tidyverse, ggplot, and Git
  • Experience using Excel, DHIS2, and Power BI
