Remote Sensing Engineer - Onsite

Process satellite and airborne imagery while developing Python-based geospatial workflows for Riverside Research’s defense and national security missions.

Description

  • Process and interpret satellite, airborne, and other remotely sensed imagery
  • Build and maintain geospatial analysis workflows and automated processing pipelines
  • Create Python tools for imagery processing, feature extraction, and geospatial analysis
  • Apply image classification, object detection, change detection, and spatial analysis techniques
  • Support sensor calibration, validation, and quality assurance activities
  • Work with engineers, data scientists, and intelligence analysts to deliver mission-focused solutions
  • Produce technical documentation, reports, and presentations for varied audiences
  • Assess emerging remote sensing technologies and propose workflow enhancements
  • Participate in project planning, technical discussions, and continuous process improvement

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required for all Riverside Research opportunities
  • An active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required
  • A bachelor’s degree or eight years of experience in remote sensing, geospatial science, geography, GIS, computer science, engineering, physics, environmental science, or a related technical field is preferred
  • Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement
  • Experience processing and analyzing satellite, aerial, or other remotely sensed imagery
  • Proficiency with remote sensing and GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, or equivalent tools
  • Strong Python skills for geospatial analysis and workflow automation
  • Experience using geospatial libraries including GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Shapely, or OpenCV
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a remote, collaborative environment
  • Experience in one or more of RF; elevation or terrain; non-Earth imaging (NEI); SAR; infrared (SWIR, MWIR, or thermal); hyperspectral (HSI); LiDAR and 3D; airborne UAS; non-imagery sources such as AIS, Adtec, ADS-B, and open-source data; photogrammetry; or full-motion video (FMV)
  • Experience supporting DoD, NGA, NRO, or Intelligence Community programs is preferred
  • Experience with SAR, LiDAR, hyperspectral, multispectral, or thermal imagery is preferred
  • Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud-based geospatial processing environments is preferred
  • Experience applying machine learning or computer vision to geospatial imagery is preferred
  • Knowledge of Docker and modern software development practices is preferred
  • Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows is preferred
  • Experience with Motion Target Indicator (MTI), EO, object detection, change detection, maritime domain analysis, or Global Comp is preferred
