Payroll and Accounting Analyst — Oregon Remote

The Standard is seeking a payroll and accounting analyst to maintain accurate, compliant payroll for a multi-state workforce. The role focuses on audits, reconciliations, payroll tax compliance, and resolving complex payroll issues.

Description

  • Review and audit payroll data to support accurate, timely, and compliant processing
  • Reconcile earnings, deductions, taxes, and payroll-related accounts, including variance analysis and balancing
  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll and payroll tax matters, notices, compliance activities, and year-end requirements
  • Work with employees, managers, HR, Benefits, Finance, HRIS, and vendors to resolve inquiries and maintain data integrity
  • Develop and implement improvements to payroll processes
  • Enhance payroll controls and assist with audit activities
  • Test and validate enhancements to payroll systems
  • Handle payroll accounting, reporting, tax administration, payroll data management, and employee deductions
  • Provide support for complex payroll questions from employees and business partners

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Six years of payroll experience, preferably supporting a multi-state workforce of more than 1,000 employees across multiple legal entities
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll and managing federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, balancing, and payroll accounting support
  • Experience investigating and resolving complex payroll issues, tax discrepancies, and tax notices
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state wage-and-hour laws, payroll regulations, and compliance obligations
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning and payroll systems for processing, analysis, testing, and issue resolution
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliations, formulas, reporting, and validation
  • Ability to use technology, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve payroll processes, controls, efficiency, and decision-making
  • Ability to travel once annually
  • Successful completion of criminal background, employment, education, and licensing verification
  • Must be bondable
