Field Service Engineer – Central Illinois (Hybrid)

Maintain and repair GE HealthCare medical equipment for customers across Central Illinois. The role covers installations, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, onsite service, and customer support.

Description

  • Complete preventive maintenance, field modification, and instrument service tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Support experienced field engineers during equipment installations.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and service repairs on assigned equipment.
  • Collaborate with teammates, colleagues, and customers throughout service activities.
  • Resolve customer issues and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Recommend value-added services that can improve customer business efficiency.
  • Keep customer service logs and internal service records up to date.
  • Order repair parts and manage service cycle times.
  • Follow the GEHC escalation process and coordinate corrective action plans with regional and national support teams.
  • Participate in the account community supporting key customers.
  • Work with commercial partners to identify sales leads, support contract renewals and other sales opportunities, and contribute to revenue programs.
  • Strengthen customer relationships and help maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Track competitor activity and relevant market trends.
  • Handle service calls independently within one year of employment.
  • Work primarily at customer sites, with occasional home-office work during the second shift from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent military education; participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; or a high school diploma/GED plus at least four years of electronic equipment service experience.
  • Experience using web applications and Microsoft products.
  • Valid driver's license that can be maintained throughout employment.
  • Availability for after-hours support or a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage.
  • Residence in the Central Illinois region.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch or squat, kneel or crawl, sit, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach above, at, and below shoulder level, flex and extend the neck, and use good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Vision may need to support color, near, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen when applicable.
