Clinical Development Director, Ophthalmology Gene Therapy

Lead RhyGaze’s clinical development strategy for gene therapies targeting serious eye diseases. The role spans trial design, regulatory planning, and cross-functional program leadership.

Description

  • Guide clinical development across ophthalmology gene therapy programs for anterior and posterior segment diseases.
  • Shape clinical strategy, design studies, and oversee clinical trial execution.
  • Draft and review protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Advise on patient safety, data review, and overall study conduct.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, CROs, investigators, and advisors to advance programs.
  • Support regulatory discussions and contribute to development plans and milestones.
  • Track advances in ophthalmology and gene therapy to inform program strategy.
  • Report to the Vice President of Clinical Development.
  • Set strategic direction for development plans, study design, endpoint selection, regulatory strategy, and key program milestones.

Requirements

  • An advanced scientific or medical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent experience) is preferred.
  • At least five years of clinical development experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.
  • Ophthalmology experience is required.
  • Gene therapy experience is required.
  • Retina experience is required.
  • Glaucoma experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing a range of clinical and regulatory documents.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial design and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Comfort working hands-on in a fast-moving biotechnology environment.
  • Strong spoken and written English.
  • A Swiss work permit or EU citizenship with eligibility to work in Switzerland.
