Business Banking Relationship Manager Trainee

Build and manage BMO’s small-business client portfolio while developing sales strategies, financial solutions, and long-term relationships. This full-time trainee role is based onsite in Whitby, Canada.

Description

  • Manage relationships with a portfolio of small-business clients
  • Build a new-business pipeline and grow BMO’s market share
  • Create and execute sales strategies to win new clients and expand existing relationships
  • Develop internal and external networks, including referral sources
  • Generate appointments and business opportunities through targeted sales activity
  • Create, maintain, and execute business plans and relationship-management strategies
  • Identify prospective clients and cross-sell relevant products and services
  • Establish rapport, credibility, and trust with clients
  • Understand the local market and build relationships with centres of influence
  • Deliver responsive customer service, expertise, and ongoing support
  • Develop profitable, long-term relationships and expand clients’ wallet share
  • Respond to inquiries with accurate information about business-banking products and services
  • Assess customer needs and recommend suitable financial solutions
  • Resolve issues or escalate them when appropriate
  • Develop recommendations aligned with business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Advise and guide stakeholders on implementing solutions
  • Analyze data to produce insights and recommendations
  • Track performance, identify issues, and take corrective action
  • Coordinate database management and align activities with data-governance requirements
  • Create change-management plans and lead or support related activities
  • Contribute to operational program planning and implementation
  • Complete work accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
  • Support the development and promotion of business and group programs
  • Follow security, safeguarding, fraud-prevention, and anti-money-laundering procedures
  • Protect the confidentiality of customer and Bank information
  • Identify risks and complete required documentation and regulatory activities
  • Use sound judgment to diagnose and solve problems
  • Work independently on complex assignments
  • Take measured risks within BMO’s Risk Management Framework and approved Risk Appetite

Requirements

  • Four to six years of relevant experience is typically expected
  • Post-secondary degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong financial-analysis capabilities
  • Ability to interpret financial statements
  • Ability to evaluate creditworthiness
  • Ability to turn analysis into actions that support growth and reduce risk
  • Strong knowledge of business-banking products
  • Knowledge of lending processes and loan documentation
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and technologies
  • Substantial customer-sales and service experience
  • Technical proficiency developed through education or business experience
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
