AML Analyst (Toronto, Onsite)

Investigate client transactions and prepare FINTRAC Suspicious Transaction Reports for Canaccord Genuity’s Canadian securities business. Support compliance controls, audits, regulatory inquiries, and remediation of potential deficiencies.

Description

  • Complete risk-based investigations of individual and corporate clients using transaction data, open-source research, and client records
  • Assess investigation results to determine whether Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) must be filed with FINTRAC
  • Prepare STRs by recording investigation findings and transaction details in FINTRAC reporting software
  • Keep detailed records of investigative steps and conclusions in accordance with internal policies and regulatory standards
  • Communicate investigation conclusions to supervisors, management, and other internal stakeholders
  • Assist Compliance supervisors and Vice Presidents with investigative and operational activities
  • Contribute to process and procedure improvements that support the firm’s regulatory obligations
  • Manage urgent assignments, including year-end activities and regulatory audit requests, for regulators and internal stakeholders
  • Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries to support effective business operations
  • Record inquiries and resolutions to identify, address, and prevent potential control deficiencies

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in the securities industry or within the financial intelligence unit of a FINTRAC reporting entity
  • Working knowledge of CIRO, FINTRAC, PCMLTFA, and related regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with money laundering and fraud typologies, particularly within securities markets
  • Knowledge of legal documentation for corporations, trusts, and other legal entities
  • Consistently detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough
  • Strong information-gathering, problem-solving, judgment, and discretion skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with effective interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced setting while taking initiative
  • Collaborative, professional, and approachable team manner
  • Required proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Dataphile and World-Check is considered an asset
  • Completion of, or willingness to complete, CAMS, CSC, and CPH is considered an asset
  • Candidates selected for interviews must provide proof of Canadian citizenship, permanent residence, or unrestricted eligibility to work in Canada
