GIS Technician - Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)

Support Leidos electric utility distribution projects by maintaining GIS and CAD data. Collaborate with utility clients and engineering teams across North Carolina.

Description

  • Support complex and high-priority electric distribution projects using GIS and CAD software.
  • Use as-built records, work management logs, and related documentation to update GIS data based on field construction.
  • Investigate data discrepancies and coordinate accurate updates to client systems.
  • Acquire and process GIS data at the state and municipal levels.
  • Contribute within an Agile team environment.
  • Work directly with local clients.
  • Coordinate with Substation, Protection & Controls, and Civil Structural teams.
  • Collaborate with utility clients across the country.
  • Provide storm response support and visit the office occasionally as required.

Requirements

  • Complete 30 credit hours in a GIS-related program at an accredited university, hold a Bachelor of Science degree while enrolled in a GIS certification program, or have a high school diploma with 2 years of applicable GIS-related work experience.
  • Knowledge of client standards is preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be willing to perform both field and office work.
  • Be available for overnight travel of approximately 10–20%.
  • Be able to work in outdoor environments.
  • Have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Have experience with one or more GIS platforms, such as Smallworld, the Esri suite, or QGIS.
  • Have experience with CAD software such as Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD, Maya, or Civil 3D.
  • Live within 50 miles of the Durham office.
  • Work through a temporary agency for 6 months before potential conversion to a direct Leidos position.
