GIS Specialist, Vancouver (Hybrid)

Support Arcadis’ sustainable civil engineering, transportation, and infrastructure projects in Vancouver. Manage geospatial data, GIS databases, CAD/BIM integration, and mapping deliverables.

Description

  • Deliver technical geospatial data support and mapping services to internal and external stakeholders across civil engineering, transportation, and infrastructure projects.
  • Use GIS and related software to manage information, analyze engineering and supplemental data, and create mapping products.
  • Prepare technical and functional documentation for GIS platforms, applications, services, data, and related workflows.
  • Advise stakeholders and promote effective GIS practices.
  • Help project teams address GIS-related technical challenges.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations and project stakeholders to facilitate communication and information exchange.
  • Maintain and manage the GIS database.
  • Create digital, web-based, and print maps from diverse data sources.
  • Assess CAD and BIM data alongside supplementary geospatial information.
  • Verify adherence to project standards and information requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated technical expertise with GIS software platforms, applications, and technology portfolios.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in GIS, geomatics, engineering technology, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in a construction or engineering environment; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise, including publishing web mapping applications and field apps.
  • Experience combining CAD and BIM data with GIS for civil engineering projects.
  • Practical understanding of coordinate systems and transformations.
  • Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, quality assurance, and documentation practices.
  • Ability to resolve technical and operational issues independently through logical, structured, and methodical analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate across functions, manage competing priorities independently, and deliver results within agreed service levels and project timelines.
