Technical Sales Engineer, Water Treatment

Design, commission, and troubleshoot industrial water treatment systems for CECO Environmental. Partner with customers and commercial teams to develop technical solutions and support sustainable industrial operations.

Description

  • Design and size water treatment systems, including reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, filtration, and water softening equipment.
  • Analyze water quality data to develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Start up, commission, and optimize systems, and train operators.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and operational issues with water treatment equipment.
  • Conduct field tests and assess system performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, commissioning records, and recommendations.
  • Read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Provide technical support at customer meetings, site visits, and project evaluations.
  • Contribute to business development through technical consultation and solution design.
  • Help prepare customer proposals and presentations, and recommend equipment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, distributors, engineers, and channel partners.
  • Spot opportunities for system upgrades, services, and additional solutions.
  • Work with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Service, and Project Management teams.
  • Keep project, customer, and opportunity records current in company systems.
  • Share technical updates, customer feedback, and market insights to inform commercial planning and business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, mechanical, civil, water resources engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least five years of experience in water treatment, applications or process engineering, commissioning, field service engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial water treatment systems.
  • Experience starting up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret water analysis results and apply them to treatment system design and operation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in industrial settings for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight trips.
  • Ability to use tools, testing equipment, and required personal protective equipment safely.
  • Compliance with all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
