Senior Compliance Manager and MLRO - Netherlands Remote

Papaya Global is hiring a Senior Compliance Manager and MLRO to oversee Dutch payments compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, and regulatory governance for Azimo B.V. The role partners with regulators, boards, auditors, and internal teams on financial crime risk management.

Descriere

  • Maintain and strengthen Azimo B.V.’s regulatory compliance and financial crime framework.
  • Interpret Dutch and European regulatory obligations and convert them into policies, procedures, controls, monitoring, and governance processes.
  • Lead and contribute to compliance risk assessments and thematic reviews.
  • Manage and oversee the Compliance Monitoring Program.
  • Track regulatory developments and implement resulting changes promptly.
  • Support Senior Management, the Board, and the Supervisory Board with reporting, escalation, and governance activities.
  • Serve as a key compliance liaison with supervisory authorities, including DNB.
  • Lead or assist with regulatory inspections, supervisory reviews, audits, and information requests.
  • Coordinate regulatory filings, management responses, and briefing documentation.
  • Oversee the tracking and remediation of regulatory, audit, compliance, and supervisory findings.
  • Develop and maintain the AML/CFT, sanctions, and broader financial crime compliance framework.
  • Provide second-line oversight and constructive challenge to first-line teams.
  • Support the review of unusual and suspicious transactions and related reporting considerations.
  • Lead or support enterprise-wide risk assessments.
  • Act as the appointed MLRO, overseeing AML/CFT, sanctions, unusual activity reviews, escalations, and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare management information, compliance reports, and escalation materials for senior management, ARCC, boards, and regulators.
  • Develop effective working relationships with Product, Payments, Treasury, Operations, Legal, Risk, and Commercial teams.
  • Support compliance training, awareness initiatives, and collaboration with first-line functions.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance activities performed by outsourced providers and other third parties.
  • Lead the enterprise-wide financial crime risk assessment and its related governance processes.

Cerințe

  • At least eight years of experience in compliance, financial crime compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within a regulated payments, banking, fintech, or other financial services environment.
  • Experience serving as an MLRO, Deputy MLRO, or senior financial crime oversight professional in regulated financial services is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and improve compliance frameworks, regulatory programs, and governance processes in regulated financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch and European requirements for payment institutions, including the Wft, Wwft, PSD2, EBA Guidelines, sanctions rules, and relevant supervisory expectations.
  • Experience conducting compliance risk assessments, thematic reviews, monitoring activities, and regulatory gap analyses.
  • Background managing regulatory, audit, and compliance remediation programs, including corrective action planning and tracking.
  • Experience working with regulators, internal and external auditors, and assurance functions, including coordinating responses to inquiries, inspections, and reviews.
  • Strong understanding of payment services, cross-border payment flows, safeguarding, outsourcing, and related compliance and financial crime risks.
  • Ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders at all levels, and deliver in a fast-changing regulatory environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in law, finance, business administration, economics, criminology, or a related field.
  • Relevant qualifications such as the ICA Diploma, CAMS, CGSS, or equivalent compliance and financial crime certifications are strongly preferred.
