Descriere

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to build robust, reproducible data pipelines across disciplines.
  • Connect core data systems with research and engineering initiatives throughout EIT.
  • Promote consistent data engineering practices across the institutes.
  • Maintain datasets that are accurate, reproducible, version-controlled, well structured, and suitable for machine learning.
  • Transform information from diverse sources into reliable, high-quality data resources.
  • Manage the ingestion, storage, curation, and transformation of biological datasets in varied formats.
  • Containerize and deploy code in research environments, including with Docker.
  • Scale data processing across distributed cloud warehouses and storage using Kubernetes, Slurm, Spark, or Ray.
  • Support maintainable engineering, effective testing, resilient system design, rapid prototyping, and collaborative delivery.

Cerințe

  • Strong programming expertise in Python.
  • A clear commitment to code quality, reliability, and readable implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of data storage and manipulation, including relational systems, sharding, parallelization, indexing, and scalability.
  • Experience using cloud computing platforms and working across varied Linux environments.
  • Experience handling data systems at scale, particularly distributed or parallelized platforms.
  • Knowledge of data engineering and data management practices, including reproducibility, version control, schema design, lineage, and single sources of truth.
  • A systems-oriented approach with end-to-end ownership, from low-level performance through user interfaces.
  • Experience preparing data for machine learning pre-training, post-training, and evaluation.
  • A scientific background, with genomics, proteomics, or related qualifications or experience valued.
  • Experience in bioinformatics and with industry-standard tools such as NextFlow valued.
  • Permanent right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
