Senior Staff Hardware Engineer / Program Manager — Optical Semiconductors, Santa Clara

Lead Marvell’s optical semiconductor hardware programs from concept through production ramp. Coordinate silicon, photonics, packaging, validation, supply, and operations for cloud and AI infrastructure products.

Description

  • Own hardware programs from concept through production readiness and ramp
  • Direct program initiation, strategic planning, tracking, and execution under Marvell’s Product and IP Lifecycle Processes
  • Convert product requirements and engineering goals into schedules, resource plans, milestones, and measurable deliverables
  • Coordinate photonics, analog, packaging, TO/FO, manufacturing, DVT, reliability, supply, operations, and finance teams across development sites
  • Manage concurrent silicon subsystem, optical engine, and final product development programs
  • Define readiness criteria and monitor testing, reliability qualification, customer sampling, production acceptance, and ramp activities
  • Identify schedule, technical, material, and resource risks; assign mitigation owners; and drive resolution or escalation
  • Monitor internal and external dependencies and coordinate corrective actions
  • Lead weekly cross-functional reviews and recurring program updates
  • Develop reports and executive presentations on program health, milestone changes, business impact, and required decisions
  • Work with engineering and business leaders to balance performance, quality, cost, schedule, and customer requirements
  • Work onsite with the team in Santa Clara five days per week

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor’s degree, 8 years with a master’s degree, or 6 years with a PhD
  • At least 5 years of hardware project or program management experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Proven ownership of complex development programs
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and deliver silicon subsystems and complete customer products
  • Technical fluency for engaging engineering teams, understanding development dependencies, and guiding execution decisions
  • Strong leadership, organization, and time-management abilities
  • Ability to motivate geographically distributed teams and influence without direct authority
  • Capability in risk identification, analysis, and problem solving
  • Experience creating mitigation and recovery plans
  • Ability to balance internal business goals with customer requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable program management software
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Agile, and Jira
  • Collaborative working style, strong follow-through, and a record of creating clarity and accountability
  • Background in optical connectivity, silicon photonics, high-speed interconnects, or advanced semiconductor packaging
  • Experience coordinating hardware validation, reliability qualification, new product introduction, and production ramp
  • Familiarity with material readiness, supply constraints, and operational dependencies
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled information under applicable U.S. law; some applicants may require export license review
