Senior Global Trade Technical Advisor, Space Sector

Lead export classification, authorization, and training programs for Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector. Guide trade compliance across aerospace and defense systems.

Description

  • Act as the Space Sector’s Global Trade Technical Advisor under the Director of Global Trade.
  • Direct company-wide Technical Advisor programs, including training and participation in twice-yearly Tech Fests.
  • Recommend and assess Technical Advisor candidates across engineering disciplines and divisions.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with Engineering, Corporate, and other functional teams.
  • Lead and mentor a community of more than 100 trained Space Technical Advisors.
  • Offer individual guidance, regular team updates, and lunch-and-learn sessions.
  • Convert export regulations into embedded systems engineering processes and procedures.
  • Determine jurisdiction and classifications for sector hardware, software, and technology.
  • Help secure and implement U.S. government export authorizations and compliance processes.
  • Develop sector export policies and procedures and serve as their subject-matter expert.
  • Train staff on export rules, hardware jurisdiction and classification, technical-data and public-release reviews, and Northrop Grumman’s EEMS export database.
  • Advise and mentor Space Technical Advisors and deliver quarterly refresher training.
  • Maintain consistent, accurate technical-data reviews across the sector.
  • Assist Global Trade Empowered Officials and the Law Department with potential compliance incidents.
  • Analyze export authorization classifications, scope, provisos, and conditions.
  • Carry out other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of professional experience, or a master’s degree and 10 years, or a PhD and 8 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance.
  • Fluency in ITAR, EAR, and other U.S. government regulations governing export and import licensing and global trade.
  • Experience delivering training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An advanced engineering or science degree is preferred.
  • Aerospace and defense industry experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of space products and systems, including spacecraft, launch vehicles, ground and missile systems, propulsion, lasers, imaging, optics, and microelectronics, is preferred.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with Decartes EEMS software are preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
  • An active U.S. government Secret security clearance is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for roles needing a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.
