Generalist Legal Assistant - Remote Philippines

Support an Austin criminal defense firm with court coordination, discovery and records requests, document preparation, case-system updates, and related legal administration. Full-time remote position for candidates based in the Philippines.

Description

  • Confirm case details, statuses, filing information, court dates, times, and locations with courts.
  • Use approved court resources to verify information and record findings accurately.
  • Flag discrepancies and escalate them through the appropriate channels.
  • Enter verified information into case-management systems.
  • Prepare standardized motions and related documents from approved templates and case data.
  • Apply firm standards for formatting, file naming, filing, and quality checks.
  • Track pending motions and follow up on document status.
  • Request discovery and records from courts, agencies, prosecutors, law enforcement, and other authorized sources.
  • Follow up with relevant parties on outstanding requests.
  • Download, organize, and upload discovery materials, videos, offense reports, PC affidavits, and other case documents.
  • Check that materials are complete and linked to the correct client and matter.
  • Perform New Case Contract Verification in line with established procedures.
  • Find and confirm cause numbers, then update case records.
  • Support administrative work related to LOR and MTSC matters.
  • Detect missing or conflicting information and refer issues to the appropriate Specialist Legal Assistant or supervisor.
  • Provide task-specific assistance to Specialist Legal Assistants supporting multiple attorneys, metros, and caseloads.
  • Balance assignments according to deadlines, priority, and operational requirements.
  • Keep firm systems accurate and current.
  • Communicate promptly when information cannot be obtained, work cannot be completed, or further action is needed.
  • Safeguard confidential client and case information while following firm data-handling and security policies.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in administrative, legal support, customer service, clerical, or case-management work for an international company or client base.
  • A reliable computer, stable internet connection, and suitable work-from-home setup.
  • Availability for night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
  • Comfort using computers and multiple software systems.
  • Ability to protect confidential information and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Law firm, legal services, court, government agency, or comparable experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, discovery, motions, or case-management platforms is preferred.
  • Experience communicating with courts, government agencies, or other legal stakeholders is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume, deadline-focused environment is preferred.
