Data Scientist, AI and BI (Looker) - Northramp

Build AI, machine learning, and Looker BI solutions for Northramp’s federal cloud modernization programs. Support FedRAMP High operations and mission-critical decisions for government agencies.

Description

  • Create and maintain LookML models, Looks, and dashboards for client stakeholders and program leadership
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models for classification, prediction, anomaly detection, and natural language processing
  • Perform exploratory analysis, statistical modeling, and hypothesis testing
  • Build feature engineering pipelines, model-training workflows, and model-serving infrastructure connected to cloud data platforms and BigQuery
  • Work with Data Engineers to establish data requirements and verify pipeline results
  • Partner with program leaders and government stakeholders to turn mission needs into analytical questions and measurable KPIs
  • Apply responsible AI practices through explainability, bias evaluation, and thorough documentation
  • Develop and operate automated reporting and alerting workflows for operational metrics and anomalies
  • Record methodologies, assumptions, validation findings, and performance measures to support ATO and audit requirements
  • Mentor junior analysts and promote data-informed practices across the delivery team

Requirements

  • Three to six years of progressive, hands-on data science or applied analytics experience, including deploying models in production
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Proficiency in Python data science tools, including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and statsmodels
  • Advanced SQL skills for complex transformations, analytical queries, optimization, and large-scale analysis
  • Advanced Looker and LookML experience covering semantic models, complex Explores, Views, dimensions, measures, joins, relationships, derived tables, PDTs, reusable patterns, testing, documentation, and version control
  • Knowledge of dashboard and data visualization principles, including visual storytelling, information hierarchy, KPI design, accessibility, usability, and appropriate chart selection
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities across BI, SQL, LookML, BigQuery, and machine learning workflows
  • Experience building, training, validating, tuning, and deploying models with Vertex AI, SageMaker, or Azure ML
  • Solid understanding of regression, classification, time series analysis, and A/B testing
  • Working knowledge of BigQuery or a comparable cloud data warehouse
  • Experience using BI platforms beyond Looker, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Google Looker Studio
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices, including model versioning, experiment tracking, and deployment pipelines
  • Understanding of federal AI governance, including OMB M-24-10 or comparable guidance, and FedRAMP data-handling requirements
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability or Public Trust clearance
  • Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer certification or an equivalent AWS or Azure ML credential is preferred
  • Security+ or an equivalent certification is preferred
  • Experience with NLP, computer vision, or generative AI application development is preferred
  • Experience supporting federal data science or analytics programs is preferred
  • Active Public Trust or higher clearance is preferred
