Senior Assistant General Counsel, Consumer Finance Regulatory

Tavsif

  • Provide legal counsel across consumer finance activities and customer experiences.
  • Advise business teams on new products and services.
  • Train teams and provide guidance on consumer finance and other applicable laws.
  • Counsel teams on third-party oversight and marketing materials.
  • Draft and negotiate partnership and other commercial agreements.
  • Track and assess federal, state, and local developments in lending, servicing, and related fields.
  • Work with business partners to explain regulatory changes and prepare operations for them.
  • Coordinate with Compliance and Risk teams on risk matters.
  • Support investigations and responses to consumer complaints.
  • Oversee internal and external compliance reviews and examinations, including government regulatory exams.
  • Work with colleagues to identify issues and improve processes and procedures.
  • Promote consistent interpretation and application of legal requirements across the marketplace.
  • Lead and support work that advances the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Take on additional assignments for the Legal Department.
  • May supervise other legal team members and support their work.

Talablar

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active law license in good standing in at least one state.
  • At least 10 years of combined experience in a law firm, government, and/or in-house legal department.
  • At least 8 years of experience with consumer finance law and regulations.
  • Preference for some in-house experience at a bank, credit union, or consumer lending fintech within the past 5 years.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on TILA/Regulation Z, ECOA/Regulation B, FCRA/Regulation V, BSA/AML, EFTA/Regulation E, TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM, FDCPA, UDAAP, GLBA/Regulation P, and/or comparable state laws.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities.
  • Can anticipate the legal needs of a fast-moving business team and provide responsive support.
  • Able to manage multiple assignments.
  • Can adapt to a changing business environment and work well with innovation and change.
  • Willing to participate directly in executing and implementing legal advice.
  • Can manage multiple transactions or tasks and advise on novel issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal partners and external customers.
  • Comfortable engaging with and influencing colleagues across departments and seniority levels.
  • High integrity and willingness to have candid discussions with business leaders.
  • Understands responsible AI use in complex, high-stakes work, including data integrity, model limitations, and compliance considerations.
  • Available to work local hours in Pacific, Mountain, or Eastern time zones.
